Can I just give him a hug? I think his bad-guy-gone-good act is one to fucking rival Zuko’s.
I’m not even gonna try and lie. I TOTALLY was on that hate train when he first kidnapped and fucked up Korra. Actually, I dont remember the last time I hated a character that much. He was just made so….hateable! And that’s GREAT. The fact that Brychael was able to instill that much emotion in me because of an animated character is a beautiful thing.
His entire redemption was also beautiful. I was literally in tears when his backstory was revealed.
I see people hating on the back story, saying it’s shitty writing, but I dont see that. At all. I cried and hated Yakone (then later felt bad for him when he died unhappy) felt bad for the boys while also loving their early relationship, and then freaked out when Tarrlok was forced to continue growing up in his brother’s shadow even with him missing.
Every time I see a a gif of him sacrificing himself and his brother at the end I get tears in my eyes.
Great job Brychael, for making a character with such an amazing and beautiful transformation. I approve of Tarrlok.
