“How?”
“Avatar Aang taught me after Amon took my bending away. Are you just gonna stand there? Come here, Tahno.” Korra tried to soften her voice, but Tahno was making things awkward and uncomfortable.
Tahno moved with slow and deliberate steps towards Korra. He fell to his knees in front of her and looked up, his grey eyes full of huge crocodile tears. Korra’s face fell. How could she ever think he was coping?
“It’s okay now Tahno. It’s okay,” She whispered and placed her thumb on his forehead. Her entire body glowed, then Tahno’s began to do the same. Once the glow faded, Korra sunk to her knees in front of Tahno.
“Do you feel it now?” She used her fingers to wipe away Tahno’s crocodile tears and held them in the air with waterbending.
Tahno blubbered like a baby for a minute before using his own bending to pull the water from the air and turn them into tiny ice crystals. “Spirits, Korra, how?!” He laughed and jumped up, grabbing Korra’s arm in the process and dragging her out of the apartment.
“I can feel it, Korra! It’s here again! I can feel the water calling me, oh spirits I’m whole again!” His voice was frantic and panicked sounding, but somehow Korra knew exactly what he wanted, what he needed.
Korra whistled harshly, and Naga came running. The polar bear-dog swooped both of them up and Korra guided her towards an overhanging cliff that looked over the water.
At the sight of the water, Tahno vaulted off Naga and jogged towards the very edge of the cliff and began stripping off his pajama pants.
“Tahno wait up!” Korra yelled and hopped off Naga. She ran over to Tahno, only to watch in horror as he launched himself off the cliff completely naked. Sure he was going to hurt himself, Korra too launched herself off the cliff.
“What the hell are you doing, Tahno!?” She screamed and created a giant wave that sucked up both benders. As she was lowering the way, she was suddenly blasted by a shot of water from Tahno.
He created a platform of ice and used it to float above the water. He was laughing as Korra resurfaced. “Is that all ya got, Uh-Vatar?!” He called to her and made several small water whips. He froze two of them and sent them towards her.
They did little good when Korra created a waterspout so that she could be above Tahno. “Tahno you’re naked! I’m not fighting a naked guy!”
Tahno continued laughing and moved his hands wildly, freezing the waterspout under Korra’s feet. “Excuses are for the useless!” He propelled himself forward and lifted water whip. He punched it forward toward’s Korra’s head, but she simply froze it and jumped off the spout and directly into him.
They landed in the water with a solid slap, only to resurface in a fit of laughter. Korra splashed Tahno in the face, just like that time she did in the Pro-Bending ring, and suddenly everything seemed like it was going to be okay.
She was the Avatar still, her enemies were now her friends, and her life was looking pretty good at the moment.
